Looking for three new contributors

News Correspondent

There’s a steady stream of trans news these days, and a refreshing amount of it is actually positive. We’d like a News Correspondent to create a weekly digest of all the good stuff. There are several good aggregators already (Trans News Daily, Girls Like Us News, Transgender News, etc.) so this would basically entail looking through it, finding the appropriate ones, compiling them with links and 1-2 sentence summary, and posting them to We Happy Trans once a week.

Legal Correspondent

Much like the news, there are frequently legal and policy decisions that impact the trans community, locally, nationally and internationally. We Happy Trans is looking for a Legal Correspondent, ideally someone with a legal background, to write summaries of such decisions and what it means for trans people.

Media Correspondent

We’re looking for an excellent writer with an astute critical mind to contribute a weekly review of media made by, or depicting, trans people (books, music, movies, television episodes, commercials, video games, art projects, etc.). This could range from a simple promotional blurb for a new album by a trans artist, or an extensive critique of a movie with a transgender character. The contributor is encouraged to farm out posts to guest writers.

Further, we’d like the correspondent to utilize a rating system that will show at a glance whether any given material: is a negative depiction (0 flags); is positive, but superficial or did not include trans input (1 flag); had active trans input (2 flags); or was created by a trans person (3 flags). All the reviews will be compiled into a resource database so others can easily find works by trans people and those containing positive depictions.
